Continental Tire to become Official Tire of USF Pro Championships – “Andersen Promotions today announced that Continental Tire will become the Presenting Partner and Official Tire of USF Pro Championships and its three ladder series – USF Pro 2000, USF2000 and USF Juniors – with a five-year agreement beginning in 2024. Vips to drive RLL No. 30 for remainder of season – “Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that Estonian driver Juri Vips will make his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut in the team’s No. 30 entry at the BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland on September 3 and the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, September 10. Vips drove an Indy car for the first time on October 12, 2022 at Sebring International Raceway in a test for the team and again at Barber Motorsports Park on March 13, 2023. Blomqvist will fill in for Simon Pagenaud who continues to recover from an accident at Mid-Ohio earlier this year. McLaughlin earns first oval pole in Bommarito 500 qualifying – Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin earned his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES oval pole in qualifying for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 with a two-lap average of 182.951mph. INDYCAR issues new WWTR weekend schedule after lengthy weather delay – “Persistent thunderstorms in the St. Louis area forced a shuffle of the schedule tonight and Sunday for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline at World Wide Technology Raceway, with two practice sessions scheduled tonight for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES on the 1.25-mile oval. A 60-minute practice will start at 7:45 p.m. ET, followed by two 10-minute “high-line” practices divided by groups at 9 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Teams must use primary Firestone tires during the “high-line” sessions. Newgarden to race for Penske at Petit Le Mans – “Porsche Penske Motorsport will contest the season finale of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Road Atlanta with a modified driver line-up. Andretti announces throwback livery for No. 26 at Laguna Seca – Andretti Autosport announced a throwback livery for Colton Herta to drive in their No. 26 entry in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The Gainbridge-sponsored livery is designed similarly to what Colton’s father Bryan Herta drove in black and white with Shell sponsorship (a car which Colton later bought and gifted to his dad). JHR names Franzoni driver of No. 75 in remaining INDY NXT races – “Experienced open-wheel racer Victor Franzoni will drive for Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) at the remaining road and street courses on the 2023 INDY NXT schedule. The Brazilian will partner Rasmus Lindh and will make his debut in the #75 machine at this weekend’s INDY NXT by Firestone Music City Grand Prix. Sundaramoorthy and Pizzi to drive for Abel in INDY NXT to finish season – “Two promising junior open-wheel formula racers will step up to INDY NXT by Firestone this season with Abel Motorsports, as the Indianapolis-based team has signed USF Pro 2000 drivers Yuven Sundaramoorthy and Francesco Pizzi. Both drivers will have three-race schedules with Abel as they aim to continue their climb toward the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Both will compete for Abel on Aug. 6 at Nashville and in the season-ending doubleheader Sept. 9-10 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Indian American Sundaramoorthy, 20, also will race Sept. 3 at Portland, with Italian Pizzi, 18, behind the wheel Aug. 11 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Lundqvist to drive MSR No. 60 at Nashville as Pagenaud not cleared – “As Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) heads to the fourth street circuit on the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES calendar, the Ohio-based team will welcome Linus Lundqvist to its lineup alongside Helio Castroneves for the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on Sunday (12:00pm ET, NBC, SiriusXM Ch. 160). Lundqvist is stepping in for Simon Pagenaud, who continues to recover from a practice accident at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course earlier this month.
