Norman to drive DCR w/RWR No. 52 at Mid-Ohio – “Indy Lights Series graduate and Cleveland, Ohio native, Ryan Norman will be making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut next weekend at the Honda Indy 200 aboard the No. 52 Koinu Inu / EVO entry of Dale Coyne Racing with RWR at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. INDYCAR confirms cancelled Toronto event will not be replaced – “Last month, due to restrictions in Ontario focusing on COVID-19 health-and-safety measures, organizers of the Honda Indy Toronto and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES announced the cancellation of this year’s event. Palou claims second victory of the season at REV Group GP – Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou stole the victory in the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America with a pass of the dominant Newgarden, who suffered a mechanical issue, on a late race restart. ECR announces Askew to fill in for injured VeeKay at Road America – “Ed Carpenter Racing driver Rinus VeeKay underwent successful outpatient surgery this afternoon to repair a fractured left clavicle. He sustained the injury Monday on a cycling trail during a training ride and has been under the care of INDYCAR’s medical staff. VeeKay injures clavicle in cycling incident – Per Ed Carpenter Racing: “Yesterday, Ed Carpenter Racing driver Rinus VeeKay was involved in an accident on a cycling trail during a training ride. He sustained a clavicle injury and is currently being treated by INDYCAR’s medical staff. VeeKay is in good spirits and has no other injuries. Askew will be filling in for Arrow McLaren SP driver Felix Rosenqvist, who is being held overnight at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital following an accident in Race One of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. Rosenqvist is being observed overnight prior to discharge, after being sent to the hospital for advanced imaging and evaluation by the trauma and neurological teams at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital. Ericsson wins wild Chevrolet Detroit GP Race 1 – Chip Ganassi Racing’s Marcus Ericsson held off the field on a late restart for his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory in Race 1 of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix at The Raceway at Belle Isle Park. The full Top 5 was Ericsson, VeeKay, O’Ward, Sato, and Rahal. A lengthy red flag delay occurred early in the race after an incident with Rosenqvist heavily into the barriers. INDYCAR announces grid penalty for Ganassi No. 10 – From INDYCAR: “INDYCAR officials have announced a six grid-spot penalty for the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing entry for an unapproved engine change prior to the start of the 2021 Indianapolis 500. The team was in violation of: Rule 16.5.4. Once an Indianapolis 500 Engine is fitted to the Car, removal of the Engine prior to the Indianapolis 500 Race is an Unapproved Engine Change-Out, unless it is for Repair. Hy-Vee sponsored RLL entries in the past two Indianapolis 500 races, with Ferrucci piloting the No. 45 Hy-Vee Honda on May 30 to his third straight top-seven finish in the event with a sixth-place result. Dixon fastest on Indy 500 Carb Day – Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon’s lap of 228.323 mph was fastest in rain delayed and eventually shortened Carb Day final practice for the 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMS reaches 500 capacity, lifts local television blackout – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway issued this statement Thursday, May 27 regarding the lifting of this year’s broadcast delay: “We’ve hit our capacity for this year’s Indianapolis 500 and look forward to hosting 135,000 fans at the world’s largest sporting event since the pandemic began. Paddock open to fans at Belle Isle – “As the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear welcomes additional fans in its grandstands as a result of restrictions in Michigan being lifted at outdoor venues on June 1, attendees will also be able to access the Fifth Third Bank Paddock free of charge.
