Flinn Lazier to make Lights debut at Portland – “Third-generation race driver Flinn Lazier will make his Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires debut with Abel Motorsports on Sept. 4 at Portland International Raceway. McLaren Racing announces Ricciardo termination following ’22 F1 season – “McLaren Racing and Daniel Ricciardo can confirm that Daniel’s 2023 contract has been terminated early as both parties have mutually agreed that he will leave the team at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season.” This announcement is noteworthy to the status of Alex Palou and Felix Rosenqvist as their plans with McLaren for 2023 are yet to be announced. Andretti Global announces plans for new Fishers, IN headquarters – “Andretti Global, the parent company of Andretti Autosport, has announced today that the team has chosen Fishers, Indiana, to be the future home of its universal motorsports headquarters. The team intends to build a 575,000 square-foot facility that will occupy approximately 90-acres alongside the up-and-coming Nickel Plate Trail, the Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve and near the Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport. Newgarden wins rain-affected Bommarito Automotive Group 500 – Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden won the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway for his third consecutive victory at the circuit and fifth win of the 2022 season. INDYCAR announces Nashville grid penalty for MSR No. 06 – “INDYCAR officials have announced a six-position starting grid penalty for the No. 06 Meyer Shank Racing entry for an unapproved engine change following Saturday’s race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. The team was in violation of: Rule 16.2.3.2 A fifth (5th) Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four (4) Engines. Otherwise, a fifth (5th) or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine change-out. ECR announces VeeKay extension for No. 21 – “Ed Carpenter Racing announced today that Rinus VeeKay will remain the driver of the No. 21 Chevrolet for the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season and beyond as part of a multi-year agreement. Gallagher GP winning Andretti No. 27 issued post-race penalty – “INDYCAR is announcing a post-event infraction from the conclusion of the Gallagher Grand Prix, which was completed Saturday, July 30 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. INDYCAR has fined Andretti Autosport $25,000 and penalized the team 20 entrant/driver points after the No. 27 entry of Alexander Rossi was found in violation of the following in post-race inspection: Rule 14.4.1.1. The minimum weight shall include the car in ready-to-compete condition excluding Driver, Driver Equivalency Weight, fuel and drink bottle content. Rule 14.4.1.1.1. For the first time since 2014, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be back at the Racing Capital of the World on the weekend of Sept. 15-17, 2023, as the headline event of a full weekend of IMSA sports car action billed as the “IMSA Battle on the Bricks” around the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course.
